How to Calculate What Size Deep Freezer to Buy for Oversupply
Oversupply is at least 1 ounce more than your baby’s daily intake.
To start, we used these assumptions :
✅deep freezer holds 500 ounces per cubic feet (cu.ft.)
✅how much oversupply are you saving daily (5, 10, 15 ounces, etc.)
✅freeze flat & bricking method used
✅make this overage for at least one year (365 days)
✅you will rotate your freezer stash so amount overage should stay consistent
✅ 3.5 cu.ft = 1,750 ounces
✅ 5 cu.ft = 2,500 ounces
✅ 7 cu.ft. = 3,500 ounces
✅ 10 cu.ft = 5,000 ounces
✅ 11 cu.ft = 5,500 ounces
Ounces over what baby takes in each day:
✅ 5 oz. x 365 days = 1,825 oz = 4 cu.ft
✅ 10 oz x 365 days = 3,650 oz= 8 cu.ft.
✅ 15 oz x 365 days = 5,475 oz = 11 cu.ft.
✅ 20 oz x 365 days = 7,300 oz = 15 cu.ft.
✅ 25 oz x 365 days = 9,125 oz = 19 cu.ft.
YOU: ___ oz over x 365 days = _____ ounces / 500 oz = ___ cu.ft
Notes:
🚨oz = ounces
🚨rounded ounces up by one if .25, .50, & .75
🚨may need more than one deep freezer
